Adding Your First Application
Add a State
If you have not yet added a state or wish to add a new state, click the "Add State" button from the Dashboard, Application Planner Overview page, or the main navigation. You'll be prompted to choose a state and select your residency. If you have already added your state, navigate to that state's Application Plan from the Application Planner Overview page or the main navigation.

After adding a state, you'll be redirected to the state's Application Plan. To view the plan later, navigate to the state via the main navigation, Dashboard, or the Application Planner overview page.
Add an Application
To begin adding applications, fill out the Add Application form on your state's Application Plan. The form will automatically display if you have not yet added any applications, or can be opened through the "Add Application" button.

For Supported States and Species
If applying in a state that supports automated application data, choose an Application Type from the dropdown (or choose Custom Manual Application if necessary). Next, choose whether you intend to apply for a tag, purchase a point, or enter a Non-Primary Draw application (OTC, Leftover, etc). These options will vary per Application Type and state. Lastly, click Add Application.
In some cases, required licenses will be automatically added at this time. You may also choose from other available licenses or add a custom license. Learn more about licenses here.
Adding Tag Choices
If you know which tags you intend to apply for or purchase, you may make your tag choices at this time.
- Select a tag type from the dropdown
- Select a hunt area.
- Choose a hunt date (if necessary). In some cases, dates will be displayed rather than made selectable.

For some states, you may also add a corresponding hunt code. Click the "Hunt Code" link next to your tag choice. Learn more about DrawScout's use of hunt codes here.
Dates, Costs, and Reminders
As you add applications and tags, estimated costs and relevant dates will be populated in your Application Planner. Additionally, your Application Plan for each state automatically subscribes you to relevant email alerts.
For Unsupported States and Species
For states in which DrawScout does not support automated data, choose Custom Manual Application to add your application. You can learn more about Custom Manual Applications here.
